Your First Visit
The purpose of your consultation with the doctor is to discuss your health goals and see if chiropractic is likely to help you. This visit will usually take about an hour.
If we feel your problem would be better addressed through traditional medical care or some other means, we will refer you to the appropriate health care professional.
On the other hand, if a chiropractic approach looks promising, a thorough examination will help identify the cause of your problem. If we determine that you are likely to benefit from chiropractic care, we can usually get started right away.
In more complex cases we may need to order x-rays or other tests to more clearly appreciate the nature of your condition. Either way, your well-being is our first concern. We strive to communicate effectively, so you can more fully participate in your care. You are a partner and the most important member of this team!
Our patients and practice members appreciate that we explain everything in advance. We make our recommendations for your chiropractic care in partnership with you, based on your personal health goals. Whether your desire is for relief or wellness care, we will do our best to support you in achieving your goals as quickly and painlessly as possible.
Regular Visits – Our Approach to Your Care
You might be thinking, “Are all visits as long as the first visit?” In a word, no. But don’t think the brevity of a regular visit lessens its value! With the groundwork laid, we can quickly size up the condition of your spine and nervous system, adjust you and get you on your way.
We strive to know your body and its chiropractic needs. We observe the way your body moves, and where you hold areas of tension.
We evaluate your strength, balance and flexibility. We notice where your body is efficient and your movement fluid, as well as locating those areas that need some assistance achieving more ease and healthy movement patterns. Most often, you remain fully clothed.
With our hands-on approach, we examine your spine, your joints, and your structure, feeling your bones, muscles and tendons.
As we work, sometimes we’ll ask you to engage your muscles and work along with us, and sometimes we’ll want you to relax and let go.
As we guide your body into improved alignment and balance, you’ll notice sometimes a stronger hand, and sometimes you’ll feel a more subtle touch that is very focused.
We are professionals experienced with our hands, and respectful of your body. We appreciate your trust and your commitment to your health. We recognize your time is valuable. So we do everything possible to run on time and minimize the impact on your busy life.
